The "Garden of Memory" campaign was held in Moscow at the Victory Museum
In Moscow, on the Day of Remembrance and Mourning on June 22, the traditional action "Garden of Memory" took place on Poklonnaya Gora near the Victory Museum. The footage is published by Izvestia.
At the Grieving Mother monument, participants laid flowers and lit candles as part of the action, after which they posted a minute of silence in memory of the victims. After the official part and the greeting of the honored guests, the planting of trees and the filling of commemorative tags began.
Representatives of federal authorities, public figures and volunteers took part in the action. Among the guests of honor are Ivan Advisers, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Andrey Poroshin, Adviser to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Alexander Dvoinykh, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy, Alexey Pushkov, Senator, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, Roman Shumakov, Head of the Main Military—Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and others.
An Alley in memory of journalists who died in the line of duty will also be laid as part of the campaign: participants will plant 15 young fir trees and install a commemorative plaque. Simultaneously with Moscow, the planting of the "Garden of Memory" will take place on June 22 at the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex in Belarus.
In total, in 2026, as part of the campaign, at least 27 million trees are planned to be planted in Russia and abroad, according to the number of deaths during the Great Patriotic War. The campaign was launched on March 18 in the southern regions, including the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. Since its launch in 2020, hundreds of thousands of volunteers have joined the campaign, planting more than 160 million trees in 83 countries.
The action is being held on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the support of the national project "Environmental well-being". The organizers are ANO "Garden of Memory", "Volunteers of Victory", the Victory Commanders Memorial Fund with the participation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Federal Forestry Agency.
On April 18, the International Ecological and Patriotic campaign "Garden of Memory", dedicated to the heroes who fell during the Great Patriotic War (WWII), started in Mozhaisk, Moscow region. During the event, the participants planted 85 lime trees. The action was attended by descendants of the Victory commanders, volunteers, DobroFon ambassadors and local residents.
