Summer is often perceived as a more relaxed season, but in practice, it is during this period that many people accumulate fatigue: a long working period without a noticeable pause, heat, vacation windows for colleagues and increased workload can increase the risk of emotional burnout. Valentina Romanova, HR Director of the Level Group, told Izvestia on June 22 how to help herself save resources and maintain efficiency at work in the summer.

"Summer burnout is not about the season itself, but about accumulated stress, which increases if a person works for a long time without recovery. When there is no clear balance between tasks and rest, and the regime is disrupted due to heat and increased stress, the body quickly goes into exhaustion mode. It is also this summer that the longest working period falls for Russians — fewer holidays and an increased workload from colleagues' vacations. Therefore, it is necessary to build a more careful work rhythm in advance and plan your workload," Romanova explained.

According to the expert, in such conditions it is important to control not only the volume of tasks, but also how the workflow itself is organized. When the day turns into a continuous stream of urgent tasks without the possibility of switching, the risk of burnout increases significantly. Therefore, it is worthwhile to plan the workload in advance, schedule breaks, avoid overloaded plans and, if possible, break down large goals into smaller stages. This allows you to maintain a sense of control and reduce internal tension.

Romanova added that rest is also important. If a person continues to work in constant tension mode, does not give himself a full recovery and does not actually turn off even outside the office, fatigue only accumulates.

"It is necessary not only to work, but also to really relax: observe sleep patterns, take short breaks during the day, change the environment whenever possible and do not forget about physical activity. This is especially true in summer, because the amount of activity and entertainment can effectively reboot a person after a working day. However, an important condition is complete switching: if possible, leave work tasks at work, and devote time after it to yourself and your interests," said the specialist.

Olga Leonova, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, said on June 9 that employees in Russia have the right to refuse to perform their duties in the summer if the office temperature exceeds 28 degrees. In such cases, the employee has the right to suspend his activities, having previously notified the management in writing.
