The IRGC reminded Israel of fleeing Lebanon in 2000

Israel is facing a repeat of the history of 2000, when the armed forces of the State were "shamefully" withdrawn from the territory of Lebanon. This was announced on June 22 by the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ismail Kaani.

"If you do not leave south Lebanon yourself, the epic story of 2000 will repeat itself again, when you left this land in disgrace <...> Today, if you continue the aggression and occupation, you will be driven out with humiliation and defeat. The choice is yours," he was quoted as saying on the website of the Iranian TV channel PressTV.

He added that in less than four days, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has lost more than 100 people, and the ceasefire continues to be violated by Tel Aviv in the form of "deadly attacks" on Lebanese civilians.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said on June 21 that Israel does not intend to withdraw its troops from the security zone in southern Lebanon, which includes the area of the historic Beaufort Castle. According to him, Beaufort is important for the defense of the Galilee settlements, as well as for the actions of the Israel Defense Forces.

On June 20, the N12 TV channel reported that the Israeli military, participating in an operation against Hezbollah units in Lebanon, had received orders to stop firing. According to the source of the publication, the corresponding order was given by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.
