The Russian Embassy in Cuba has expressed its condolences over the death of Ramiro Valdez Menendez, a revolutionary and historical commander of the Revolution. This was announced on June 21 by the press service of the diplomatic mission.

"It is with deep sorrow that we received the news today of the passing of the historic Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdez Menendez, one of Cuba's most outstanding sons," the Telegram channel says.

The statement notes that Valdez was one of the most prominent representatives of the Cuban revolution and devoted his life to serving the country. The embassy emphasized his contribution to the struggle for Cuba's independence and sovereignty, as well as his dedication to the State and the people.

"Rest in peace, Comrade Ramiro!" the diplomatic mission added.

The death of the commander became known on June 21. It was clarified that Valdez was an active participant in the Cuban Revolution, participating in the guerrilla struggle against the regime of Fulgencio Batista. He held a number of high-level government and military positions, including positions in the leadership of the armed forces and the Government.
