A rally featuring retro cars was held in Moscow

Rare cars appeared on the roads of the capital as part of the first stage of the Moscow Cup, which were used in the parade of historical cars organized by the Polytechnic Museum. Hundreds of crews took part in the competition. The footage is published by Izvestia on June 21.

Every car has its own destiny. Some served as personal transport for representatives of the Soviet party elite, while others were transported from abroad in complex ways.

"This is the GAZ-13 Chaika, a large-class car, it was made in the late 50s, it already had absolutely fantastic performance for its time — a V-shaped eight engine, it already had an automatic transmission, it had electric windows. That is, the car combined the latest achievements of technology, not only Soviet, but also world—class," said one of the participants.

Traditionally, the oldest car, the 1949 Phaeton, was the first to start, which had a four—hour journey through the capital. The rally lasted four hours, with two more stages of the Moscow Cup ahead of the participants.

The mutual assistance of the two crews helped KAMAZ-master finish among the leaders in the Takla-Makan heavy truck race. The race started on May 16 and ended in China on June 1. Two crews of young pilots, Bogdan Karimov and Almaz Akhmedov, took off. In two weeks, the participants traveled 3.5 thousand km. In some areas, the highway ran along a flood-damaged riverbed with huge boulders and gullies of water.
