Alexander Voevoda, who detained and neutralized a 19-year-old attacker who committed an armed attack in a shopping mall in Krasnodar on June 21, told Izvestia the details of what happened.

According to him, he was in the shopping center with his family when he heard the explosion.

"I saw a young man in black clothes, in boots, with a knife in his hands. He walked briskly to the third floor, towards the children's room. I sent my wife and child to a nearby clothing store. After making sure that they had entered, I ran after him," said the Governor.

He noted that he lost sight of the attacker for a while, but then he heard screams and noticed how the attacker was setting fire to furniture. The governor added that, trying to find a means of self-defense, he took a child's bicycle and went to the attacker, demanding to lie down on the ground and put his hands behind his head. According to him, the attacker obeyed, after which he fixed his hands with a belt.

Already on the street, the man helped the mall security guard, who had previously tried to stop the attacker and was stabbed. The governor brought a tourniquet from the car and helped to stop the bleeding before the arrival of doctors.

The attack on the Krasnodar West Mall took place the day before. As a result, a woman was killed and five other people were injured. The attacker turned out to be 19-year-old Grigory A. Upon the incident, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case in accordance with Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Murder") and Part 3 of Article 30 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code ("Attempted murder").

Alexander Voevoda himself was able to detain the attacker, who was assisted by a participant in a special military operation (SVO) who was on vacation due to injury.
