French authorities have imposed restrictions on alcohol consumption in public places in those departments where a "red" danger level has been declared due to extreme heat. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP) on June 21.

"France is putting emergency services and the armed forces on high alert to fight forest fires, restricting alcohol consumption in public places and canceling some outdoor sporting events due to the heat wave that has gripped parts of Europe," the article says.

According to the AP, about a third of the French territory is under a high temperature warning issued by the National Meteorological Service. Water spray stations have also been installed at the Eiffel Tower and other facilities in the French capital to cool visitors.

The article clarifies that temperatures are expected to rise above average in Europe this summer, which could lead to life-threatening heat stroke. The WHO European Office called on countries and institutions to develop action plans in the heat, such as introducing breaks or flexible working hours to allow workers to avoid exposure to the sun at noon.

Bloomberg reported on June 16 that an abnormal heat wave in France would lead to "tropical nights" and more frequent use of air conditioners, which would cause electricity prices to rise. It was noted that due to the scorching heat, Electricité de France SA may limit electricity generation at nuclear power plants, including Saint-Alban.
