About two thirds of Russian ballistic missiles are capable of overcoming the Ukrainian air defense system. This was reported on June 19 by The New York Times (NYT), citing data from the Ukrainian Air Force.

"Time after time, Russian ballistic missile strikes penetrated the Ukrainian air defense system. <...> Approximately two thirds of such missiles pass through the Ukrainian air defense," the newspaper cites the analysis data.

The publication also emphasizes that ballistic missiles have significantly higher destructive power compared to drones. In addition, their high speed significantly complicates the interception capabilities of air defense systems, thereby reducing the effectiveness of missile defense.
