- There are no violations in the NPP security system due to disconnection from external power supply
The disconnection from the external power supply recorded at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) did not provoke violations in the operation of its safety systems. This was announced on June 20 by the facility's press service.
"There have been no violations in the operation of safety systems. <...> The situation is under constant control of Zaporizhia NPP specialists. The station's safety has been fully ensured," the Telegram channel said in a statement.
Currently, as emphasized in the statement, the radiation background at the station and in the observation area is within the natural values and does not exceed the established standards. The facility's employees constantly monitor the operation of the equipment and do everything necessary to maintain the safety of the power units.
The IAEA reported that the NPP was completely cut off from external power supply for the 20th time on the same day. This was due to a problem with Ferroalloy-1's internal power transmission lines. The agency's inspectors recorded the automatic transition of emergency diesel generators to work to ensure cooling of the reactor core and other important elements.
The day before, the IAEA announced the start of repair work on the Dneprovskaya line. It feeds the NPP and has a complex technical component. The restoration of power lines was carried out as part of a local ceasefire.
