Trump accused vandals of trying to deface the mirror pond in Washington
On June 19, US President Donald Trump accused vandals of trying to deface the mirror pond in Washington.
"We have serious problems with vandalism at the beautiful mirrored pond located between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. Just three days ago, they destroyed the lawn next to the pond and did everything possible to damage the interior covering that they had recently applied," the American leader wrote on the Truth Social network.
According to the American president, the attackers used chemicals to render the reservoir unusable. At the same time, he assured that it was possible to cause damage only in a small area of the facility, and promised to completely restore the damaged elements.
Trump also added that by now the mirror pond has been cleared of algae by 75%.
On June 11, NBC News reported that a large-scale inscription "8647" appeared in the center of Washington on the territory of the National Mall. Trump's supporters interpreted it as a possible threat against the American leader.
