A resident of Ingushetia was sentenced to eight years in prison for preparing a terrorist attack on a church in the town of Sunzha. This was reported on June 19 in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the region.

"By the verdict of the Southern Military District Court, the defendant was sentenced to eight years in prison to serve his sentence in a general regime colony and a fine of 30 thousand rubles," the message in the Maks messenger says.

It is clarified that the defendant was found guilty under a number of articles, including Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("participation in the activities of a terrorist organization"), part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code ("participants in an armed formation not provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation"), part 1 of Article 30, paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("preparation for the commission of a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior agreement"), Part 4 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code ("acquisition, storage and transportation of firearms, ammunition") and Part 4 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code ("illegal acquisition, transportation of explosive devices").

In addition, criminal cases against two more members of the illegal armed group were separated into separate proceedings. One of them is currently being considered by the Southern District Military Court. With regard to the second person involved, who was found to have a mental disorder, the court decided to apply compulsory medical measures.
