The Novosokolnichesky District Court of the Pskov region sentenced a local resident for the deaths of three people in a fire caused by careless refueling of a gasoline lighter. This is reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Pskov region.
The fire occurred on the night of January 23 in the apartment of the accused, in which he was intoxicated. The man started filling a lighter with gasoline and spilled liquid on his hand and his surroundings. His hand caught fire, he touched things, and a fire started.
A friend of the apartment owner and his neighbor died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The wife of the accused also died of burns in the hospital, the Pskov news feed clarifies.
The court found the man guilty under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence to three persons" and sentenced him to two years of imprisonment with probation. It is noted that the verdict was passed taking into account the positive characteristics, the absence of criminal records and aggravating circumstances. The court also satisfied the claims filed by the injured party.
