Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mikhail Koryakin on Friday, June 19, told how to protect the liver from obesity with the help of simple foods.

In conversation with aif.ru The doctor noted that liver obesity remains one of the most common problems in overweight people. A certain type of dietary fiber, xylooligosaccharides (XBS), may become a promising way to prevent and treat the disease. The specialist explained that it is an indigestible fiber that serves as a breeding ground for beneficial intestinal bacteria.

During the study, the volunteers took a small dose of CBS daily for four months. The results showed that the supplement helps to reduce the amount of harmful metabolites that are formed in the intestine and can accumulate in the liver, provoking fatty liver disease.

According to the expert, the most pronounced effect was observed in people with a certain composition of intestinal microflora. These participants managed to achieve a reduction in liver fat and a reduction in visceral fat.

Koryakin noted that the results of the study confirm the importance of a personalized approach to nutrition and treatment. At the same time, he recalled that healthy dietary fiber can be obtained not only from special additives, but also from vegetables, fruits, greens and whole grains.

Earlier that day, Anastasia Lebedeva, associate professor of the Department of Dietetics at Rosbiotech University, warned RT that the constant consumption of shish kebab overloads the digestive tract and increases the likelihood of developing colorectal cancer, gout, fatty hepatosis (fatty liver) and cardiovascular diseases.

Medical Xpress magazine reported on June 10 that sugary drinks increase the risk of two types of liver cancer. This conclusion is contained in a large-scale study led by Cody Watling from the US National Institute of Oncology.

Nutritionist, gastroenterologist and hepatologist Svetlana Biryukova warned on June 8 that cravings for sweets may be an unobvious sign of liver overload. According to her, the liver is responsible for energy metabolism and the elimination of metabolic products. With fatty hepatosis and insulin resistance, its work is disrupted, which can lead to a decrease in energy levels. 360.ru .

In May, gastroenterologist Olga Chistik urged not to consume products covered with mold. According to her, the mold contains mycotoxins that "suppress the immune system, affect the kidneys, nervous system and fetus during pregnancy, <...> provoke allergic reactions and asthma attacks," the NSN notes.

In turn, gastroenterologist Elena Pekhotina listed products that are dangerous for the liver. These include foods high in saturated fat and trans fat — fatty meat, sausages and fast food, as well as sweets and drinks with a lot of sugar. In addition, alcohol negatively affects the condition of the organ, especially in combination with fatty and processed foods, the website reports. kp.ru .
