- Malysheva noted the role of the memory of the genocide of the USSR people in the cultural code of Russia
The memory of the genocide of the Soviet people forms the historical and cultural code of Russia and defines the rejection of Nazism in any form. This was stated on June 19 by Elena Malysheva, head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, at a press conference at MIA Rossiya Segodnya dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
"The topic of the genocide of the Soviet people is the topic that today forms our historical and cultural code of perception of the present day and understanding of the rejection of Nazism in any of its manifestations. This is what forms our historical and cultural code in memory of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War," Malysheva said.
According to her, personal history and perception are not separated from the state significance of the memory of the war, which reveals the maps of the current situation and determines priorities for the future.
Malysheva emphasized that the continuity of generations and the inextricable link are a distinctive feature of Russian society and national historical memory. She also noted that the memory of the war is alive in every family, and she herself has heard stories from her mother and passes them on to her children.
On June 18, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that Russia and neighboring countries share a centuries-old common history, as well as a common cultural and civilizational heritage. He said that Russia and its neighbors preserve the historical truth about the heroic deeds of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War and honor the heroism of their ancestors who fought together against fascism.
