- Russians have become less likely to sell Chinese cars after one or two years of operation.
If a few years ago there was a widespread opinion in the Russian car market that a Chinese car should be sold as quickly as possible, preferably before the end of the first two years of operation, now the behavior of motorists has changed. This was stated by Andrey Kogan, founder of the All-China company, Chairman of the Committee for Work with China of the Association of Exporters and Importers.
"Macroeconomics has become the main and most obvious driver of the change in consumer behavior. The rising cost of new cars, fueled by increases in recycling fees, inflation and high car loan rates, has created a deep price gap between a used car and a car dealership," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Kogan as saying on June 19.
As the expert noted, even if a car owner sells his one-year-old or two-year-old crossover at the top of the market, he will need a large surcharge to buy a similar new car.
Another reason that Russians are less likely to rush to sell cars one or two years after purchase is to improve the quality of Chinese cars and get rid of the fear of imminent breakdowns.
In addition, car owners are attracted by a car warranty for up to five to seven years or 150,000 km of mileage. Another reason is the liquidity of the most popular models, which lose in price no more than the best-selling Japanese or Korean brands used to lose.
Earlier this year, sales of the new large hybrid crossover GAC S9 started in Russia. The model is offered in one package at a price starting from 6.9 million rubles, excluding promotions and discounts. Yang Xiaolin, Deputy General Director of the brand's Russian division, said that the Russian market was the first external market for the S9.
