Over the past day, 320 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 34 people were killed and 372 injured. 29 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on June 19 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 68 accidents involving pedestrians, four people were killed, and 69 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 18 child pedestrians, 12 of them were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 23 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation.

24 bus accidents were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 28 road users, including two children, needed medical attention. 16 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

56 accidents involving minors were registered, 58 young road users were injured, including 23 passengers, six motor transport drivers, and two cyclists. Four children died.: three passengers and a cyclist.

So, in the morning in the Republic of Tatarstan, on the 4th km of the Mamadysh -Kukmor regional highway, a 33—year-old female passenger car driver drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where she collided with a truck. She and her two passengers died in the car accident, including a one-year-old boy who was being transported in the front passenger seat in a child restraint. The 36-year-old truck driver was referred for outpatient treatment after receiving medical care. According to eyewitnesses of the incident, the front hood deflector suddenly came off the car on the move, after which the female driver involuntarily abruptly turned the steering wheel to the left and drove into oncoming traffic.

In the Amur region, in the evening, on the 3rd km of the Yekaterinoslavka - Priobrazhenovka regional highway, a 21—year-old drunk driver of a passenger car lost control and drove off the road, after which the car overturned. As a result of the accident, a 13-year-old schoolboy was killed, who was in the car in the front passenger seat without using a seat belt. Two more minor passengers of the overturned passenger car — two brothers born in 2017 and 2020 — who were transported in the back seat without child restraints and seat belts, were injured and, after receiving medical attention, were sent for outpatient treatment. The young man who was driving had not previously been issued a driver's license.

In the Rostov region, late in the evening on the 106th km of the Kotelnikovo- Peschanokopskoye highway, a 48—year-old car driver fell asleep at the wheel while on vacation with his family from Perm to Gelendzhik, and, driving into the oncoming lane, collided with another passenger car driven by a 37-year-old motorist. The culprit of the collision and his 11-year-old daughter, who was sitting in the front passenger seat with a seat belt, were killed in the accident. The passenger of the second car was hospitalized with injuries.

In the daytime in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk, a 62-year-old SUV driver ran over an eight-year-old cyclist who was crossing the roadway without dismounting at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The girl was unaccompanied by adults and was traveling to her grandmother from her mother's place of work. The child died.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds parents of underage road users of the need to be more attentive to their children. An explanatory conversation should be held with them about the rules of safe travel on personal mobility equipment, bicycles and scooters, paying special attention to the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing. It is important to use retroreflective elements on children's outerwear to improve the visibility of young pedestrians in the evening. In addition, motorists are advised to be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the summer, when children spend a lot of time outside.

Compliance with driving discipline is especially necessary if there are children in the car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements, the department stressed. Motorists were also reminded that the lives and health of their passengers depend entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being, and law-abiding driving behavior. You should always go on a trip well rested and healthy, and before leaving, be sure to check the technical condition of the vehicle.

"During trips of any length with young passengers, avoid risky driving, dangerous maneuvers, and choose a reasonable speed limit depending on the time of day, the condition of the roadway, and weather conditions. Always remember that the preservation of the life and health of underage passengers depends entirely on adult road users. Do not allow even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy on your part," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for the promotion of road safety and prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On June 16, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate for Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Major General of Police Oleg Ponarin, at the Izvestia press center, noted that in the future all vehicles of the highway patrol service will be equipped with photo- and video-recording devices that recognize license plates.
