Lavrov cited the reason for Europe's "record change" in relation to Russia
Europe suddenly "changed the record" and started talking about negotiations with Russia in order to save the regime of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, "freeze out" the conflict and preserve Ukraine as a springboard for continuing the fight against the Russian Federation. This was stated on June 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an article for Politico Europe, which was canceled at the last moment by the editorial board.
"Thus, the real goal of European leaders is not negotiations with Russia, but saving the Zelensky regime, preserving it as a springboard for continuing the fight against us," Lavrov said in an article published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
As the Minister of Foreign Affairs noted, European politicians, in particular the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, offer dialogue only in order to convey to Russia strict conditions: payment of "reparations" to Ukraine, withdrawal of troops from Transnistria and Transcaucasia, repeal of the law on "foreign agents" and the establishment of the maximum number of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. They claim that "it is impossible to achieve a just and lasting peace without holding Russia accountable," Lavrov added.
He clarified that at the same time, Europe continues to provide military support to Ukraine, considering it a "precondition" for negotiations, and also gives a "green light" to detentions of Russian merchant ships on the high seas, turning a blind eye to terrorist sabotage by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Lavrov said that the European elites have invested huge political capital and hundreds of billions of dollars in the confrontation with Russia and are now seeking to achieve an early ceasefire in order to prevent the collapse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to introduce contingents of the "coalition of the willing" into Ukraine.
Bloomberg reported on June 17 that the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, is trying to establish contact with the Kremlin to discuss the possible start of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said at a press conference at the G7 summit on June 16 that European countries were ready to hold peace talks with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, he pointed out the intentions of European countries to continue and increase support for Kiev.
