Commemorative events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Mourning will be held in Moscow on June 21 and 22. This was announced by the organizers on Thursday, June 18.
So, on June 21, an action "And tomorrow there was a war" will take place at the Northern River Station, which will be held by the Victory Volunteers movement and the Moscow Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy. The participants will lay out the inscription "Moscow remembers" from more than 8 thousand candles in memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland. There will also be recollections of eyewitnesses of the Great Patriotic War, an orchestra will perform, and participants will perform the song "Holy War". The event will end with a minute of silence, according to the Moscow City News Agency.
On June 22, participants of the Moscow Student Council and university teams will take part in the patriotic run "MCC remembers". The distance will be 1,418 meters, according to the number of days of the Great Patriotic War. On the same day, students will lay flowers at monuments and memorials on the territory of educational institutions.
In addition, meetings within the framework of the Dialogues with Heroes project will be held at two festival venues. The participants will be veterans of military operations and special military operations, who will talk about their experiences and answer questions from young people, writes Moscow 24.
On June 15, Elena Malysheva, head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, called the Great Patriotic War an event to strengthen the bond between generations.
