On June 18, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko thanked Russian doctors and the Ministry of Health of Belarus for providing medical assistance to victims of a drone strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on a bus carrying a children's football team in the Bryansk region.
"I would like to thank the doctors of the Russian Federation, everyone who took part in providing medical care, saved the lives of the wounded, and, of course, our Belarusian colleagues, because in cooperation we have done everything possible to save people's lives and health," he said.
Murashko clarified that the doctors' help was provided in full. According to him, the condition of all patients was stabilized, if necessary, additional medical teams were sent from Bryansk.
In addition, Murashko stressed that the Russian and Belarusian sides were ready for such incidents, and joint exercises had also been held earlier to ensure that the entire medical care system was well-coordinated. Currently, the wounded have been transferred to the territory of Belarus for further treatment.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a bus carrying a children's football team from Gomel to Gelendzhik on June 17. The victim of the tragedy was one person, a woman who turned out to be the wife of one of the coaches. According to the latest information, eight people were injured.
The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on a terrorist act following the strike. Information about the incident was brought to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, which demanded an explanation from Kiev. In addition, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered urgent assistance to all those affected.
