Vance announced talks with Havana on possible changes in Cuba
The White House administration is negotiating with the Cuban government on possible changes in the country that will help improve bilateral relations with the United States. This was announced on June 18 at a press conference by American Vice President J. D. Vance.
He noted that if the Cuban authorities make reasonable decisions, US relations with the island will become much better.
"We want the Cuban people to be happy and successful. We are currently negotiating with the Cuban Government on how they could change their approach and change this situation. We'll see what they do," the politician said, which was broadcast on the White House's YouTube channel.
Thus, Washington will make its decisions regarding Cuba based on the future behavior of Havana, Vance stressed.
At a meeting with the heads of international news agencies on June 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and the United States had previously had contacts, including on issues related to Cuba. According to Putin, such contacts are part of a broader dialogue on international politics and regional stability.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on May 22 that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is trying to provoke military aggression against the country by tightening sanctions from the United States. Rubio responded by noting that Cuba poses a threat to the national security of the United States and stressed that the state needs systematic and serious changes so that it is no longer considered "failed" and dangerous.
