The development of the trend for student families was discussed at the All-Russian festival in Moscow

There have been twice as many student families in Russia in the last year alone. Now there are 60,000 of them, and half of them already have children. What is needed for the trend to successfully develop further was discussed on June 18 in Moscow at the II All-Russian Festival of Student Families.

It was decided to hold it annually precisely at the suggestion of the students themselves, who combine family and study. This is facilitated by support measures from the universities themselves and the state.

As Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko noted in her speech, families, especially those with many children, are now becoming synonymous with success in life and respect in society.

"The main reason for success lies in the fact that young people's worldview is fundamentally changing. They are getting rid of outdated, in fact, false stereotypes that receiving a high-quality education is allegedly incompatible with starting a family and having children. Young people are becoming more aware that the sooner a family is created, the more likely it is to have many children," said the chairman of the Federation Council.

Improving demography in the country was called not only a strategic task, but also an important challenge. Universities play a huge role in this. Universities are creating separate infrastructure for families with children, dormitories, mother and child rooms, and kindergartens. Maternity payments for female students who have become mothers have increased almost tenfold over the past couple of years.
