Two brown bears appeared at a cemetery in Sakhalin
In Okha (Sakhalin Region), foresters began shooting two brown bears that had come out to the city cemetery. The animals wandered between fences and graves, not responding to the noise.
According to the Forestry and Hunting Agency, predators are attracted by food left at the monuments. It is an easily accessible food for animals. At the moment, one bear has been eliminated, and the search for the second one continues. SakhalinMedia news agency writes about this.
Experts remind us that the bears have started their rutting season. During this period, animals are especially irritable and capable of unprovoked aggression. Females move to safer places for their cubs, including closer to humans. The race will last until the end of July and the beginning of August.
In mid-June, all schools were closed in the Japanese city of Utsunomiya due to a Himalayan bear roaming the streets. The predator was caught in the courtyard of the house and taken outside the village.
