The British Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of 150,000 drones to Ukraine.
The UK will transfer 150,000 unmanned vehicles to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a $996 million financial and defense support package. This was announced on June 18 by the head of the British Ministry of Defense, Dan Jarvis.
"The UK will provide Ukraine with 150,000 drones by the end of 2026 as part of a funding package," the Reuters news agency reports.
The support package, funded by a British loan of 2.26 billion pounds to Ukraine, also includes 350 anti-aircraft missiles and ground-based radar systems, the defense minister said.
The Telegraph newspaper reported on June 10 that Britain, France and Germany would help Ukraine create a joint analogue of the American Patriot air defense system. The publication noted that the plan is for the Ukrainian defense industry to create interceptor missiles, and Britain and its allies to develop radars.
On June 12, Yulia Mendel, the former press secretary of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, questioned the creation of a Patriot analogue in the country in the near future. She noted that developing its own interceptor missile requires many years of work.
