Podyzbitsa, a unique architectural monument of the 16th century, will be restored in the historical center of Pskov. The building is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. Glavgosexpertiza of Russia issued a positive opinion allowing the work to be carried out.
According to the Pskov news feed with reference to the federal autonomous institution "Main Directorate of State Expertise", "Podyzbitsa" will be adapted to modern use.
The object is of particular value for studying architecture of the XVI – XVIII centuries. It is a surviving stone part of the building, combining the features of the ancient buildings of the city. Experts believe that this part of the building was originally used as a storeroom for storing supplies. Later, it was enlarged with wooden volumes for living.
According to Konstantin Belyaev, a representative of the department, a certified expert on windows, thanks to the restoration of Podyzbitsa, it will be possible not only to preserve an authentic example of Pskov architecture, but also to create conditions for studying its historical and architectural features.
Before the emergency work, the building was a rectangular stone volume consisting of two parts, with vaulted ceilings and brick outbuildings, with a wooden residential floor built on top. However, the wooden and brick elements were damaged during the fire.
During the restoration, experts will recreate the lost structures. The upper floor of the building, which is not included in the security item, will be restored from glued beams. After the work is completed, the total area of the building will be about 255 sq. m.
Earlier it was reported that the restoration of the lost galleries was completed in the church of St. Nicholas of Usokha in Pskov. The Church of St. Nicholas of Usokha is an architectural monument of the XV–XVI centuries and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. At the end of 2023, the facility was closed for global restoration, including lowering the ground layer, opening and adding historical galleries, complete replacement of plaster and floors, and landscaping.
