An illegal shipment of cigarettes worth 207 million rubles was detained in the port of St. Petersburg

Customs officers found an illegal shipment of cigarettes from Belarus in the Large Port of St. Petersburg. The cache was in a container with sofas. The cost of the illegal products amounted to 207 million rubles.

78.ru With reference to the press service of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, it is reported that during the inspection, customs officers found cigarette blocks that were packed in plastic wrap. Tobacco products were placed in the structural cavities of furniture.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 3 years.

In February, it was reported that a fragment of the Aletai meteorite weighing over 2.5 tons was prevented from being illegally exported to the UK by Baltic customs officers. It is noted that this product was detected during scanning of a sea container in the port of St. Petersburg. It was established that the fragment was imported to Russia from one of the EAEU countries. When trying to export it, it was declared as a sculpture for landscape design.
