The first electric garbage trucks were brought to the central streets of St. Petersburg. The car's batteries have a range of up to 260 km on a single charge.

This kind of transport is operating on the streets of the Northern Capital as part of a pilot project. The machines were first presented in March this year at the international Big City Ecology Forum.

Electric garbage trucks have several advantages. So, they are compact and work almost silently, which is ideal for a megacity.

Their economic efficiency is several times higher than their diesel counterparts. Fuel savings — 57% per 1 cubic meter of waste, total savings — up to 55%. Each car reduces CO2 emissions by 53 tons per year.

The machines were produced within the framework of cooperation between the enterprises of St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad. So, the Avtotor plant from Kaliningrad manufactured the chassis, and special add-ons and final assembly were carried out at the St. Petersburg enterprises Alfanord and V-TRAILER.
