The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the United States would make public the facts about biolabs.

On June 18, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed hope that the United States would complete an investigation into its biological programs abroad and declassify the facts about the activities of biolabs.

"More than a third of all US laboratories abroad are located in one country <...> which borders Russia and where, with the support of Washington and other Western capitals, a state anti—crisis coup was carried out in 2014," Zakharova said.

According to Zakharova, more than 40 American biolabs operated on the territory of Ukraine, in which pathogens of dangerous infections, including anthrax, tularemia, cholera and plague, were stored without proper control by the Ukrainian authorities. She also noted that the laboratories studied diseases not typical for the region, including the possibility of spreading infections through migrating birds and bats.

Zakharova stressed that such activities pose a threat to the population of neighboring countries and are in fact a form of neocolonialism. She called on Washington to ensure transparency of its military biological programs abroad.

On June 12, the office of the head of the US National Intelligence Service released evidence of United States funding for more than 120 biolabs in more than 30 countries. It is noted that the US authorities deliberately concealed from the Americans information about the existence of laboratories funded by Washington in other countries, including Ukraine.

The network of organizations that provided biological laboratories in Ukraine included the World Health Organization (WHO), the US Centers for Disease Control, and Western-affiliated research organizations. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, WHO and a number of other organizations are among the companies involved in the work.
