Thanks to the work on the commissioning of dedicated lanes for urban transport in Moscow, which has been carried out in stages since 2010, buses and electric buses are less dependent on the situation on the road and consistently follow the traffic schedule. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry, noting that there are already 515 km of dedicated lanes in Moscow, which allow residents and guests of the metropolis to significantly save travel time.

According to him, there are almost 900 bus and electric bus routes in Moscow. This number includes 74 mainline and express routes, as well as 42 suburban routes of the Moscow Region project.

The infrastructure for these routes is actively developing and dedicated lanes are being introduced. Liksutov attributed their advantages, in particular, to increasing the regularity of traffic, reducing travel time by two to four times and reducing the risk of accidents by an average of 25%. Also, the use of "allocated areas" makes it possible to reduce the waiting time for transport at stops and "organize transport work more competently," which allows "more efficient use of rolling stock resources," the deputy mayor added.

"About 6.2 thousand buses and electric buses enter the routes every day, which is more than 200 thousand seats. To transport the same number of people in private cars, it would take from 50 to 200 thousand cars. And due to the turnover of passengers, the capacity of urban transport increases many times," Liksutov noted.
