Blogger Alexandra Mitroshina received a three-year suspended sentence in a money laundering case. She must also transfer 115 million rubles to the state and pay a fine of 900 thousand rubles. The 31-year-old girl was accused of using the purchase of luxury real estate to legalize the funds received as a result of tax evasion. How the case of one of the most famous Russian bloggers ended is described in the Izvestia article.

What the court decided

• The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow found Mitroshina guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Money laundering on an especially large scale"). She was sentenced to three years of probation. The court also decided to fine the blogger 900 thousand rubles and confiscate 115 million rubles from her. During the investigation and trial, Mitroshina was under house arrest for 14 months.

• The court did not satisfy the demand of the prosecution, which requested three years of imprisonment in a general regime colony for Mitroshina. At the same time, the amount of the fine and confiscation corresponds to that requested by the prosecutor. The amount of confiscation consisted of funds that the blogger spent on the purchase of two luxury apartments in the center of Moscow — on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment (55 million rubles) and in the Bolshaya Dmitrovka IX residential complex (60.2 million rubles).

What was Mitroshina accused of?

• The criminal case on money laundering is related to Mitroshina's previous accusation of tax evasion. In 2023, the investigation revealed that the blogger had been running her blog promotion business and selling educational programs from October 2020 to May 2022. Due to the use of fictitious sole proprietors, she did not exceed the income limit set for the simplified taxation scheme on paper, but the total income was significantly higher. Thus, Mitroshina evaded the payment of 127 million rubles.

• Back in 2023, Mitroshina announced that she had paid off her entire debt to the Federal Tax Service. To do this, she took out loans, and later repaid them by selling the apartments in the center of Moscow that appeared in the case. The criminal case on tax evasion was terminated. However, she was later accused of trying to legalize criminally obtained funds by buying real estate.

• In court, Mitroshina partially admitted guilt and admitted that the funds received through the business fragmentation scheme could have been used to buy expensive apartments. At the same time, she claimed that she did not allow criminal intent in this way and did not try to hide illegal income. The blogger drew attention to the fact that in her social networks she talked about the purchased apartments to subscribers, and bought them for personal use.

What is Mitroshina known for?

• Mitroshina became known thanks to her personal blog, which she started running since 2011 on Instagram (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in Russia and banned). At its peak, it had 4.2 million subscribers, but now the number has dropped to 2.4 million. Mitroshina's YouTube channel has 413,000 subscribers. On it, the blogger hosts the podcast "Mother of Lies" — by this nickname she is known on the Internet.

• Initially, Mitroshina's blog was dedicated to gadgets and travel. In the future, she focused on stories about a healthy lifestyle and training. Together with bodybuilder Dmitry Putylin, with whom she was in a relationship, Mitroshina produced the author's training "Precision Fitness" for some time. After this stage in her career, the blogger began to talk about running and promoting social networks.

• In 2017, Mitroshina founded the Instalogia training project, dedicated to blog promotion and monetization, becoming one of the first bloggers to teach her subscribers how to run social networks. The cost of the courses, consisting of 30 video lectures, reached 1 million rubles. She also earned significant income from advertising sales — Mitroshina herself said that in 2021 she earned 303 million rubles in this way. Besides promoting blogs, she also taught accounting, legal support, and financial literacy.

• Mitroshina was engaged in the fight against domestic and obstetric violence and founded the center for mutual assistance to its victims "You are not alone." In 2019, she drew subscribers' attention to the high-profile murder of Olga Sadykova, a mother with many children, who was killed by her own husband in front of her children after the woman tried to file for divorce. Mitroshina posted a photo of herself with makeup that mimicked beatings and called for domestic violence to be decriminalized by passing an appropriate law. Later, during the trial, the prosecutor's office took into account the blogger's charitable activities and justified the time limit requested for her.

In 2020, Mitroshina was banned from entering Ukraine. This happened after a meeting with subscribers in Kiev, where the provocateurs asked the blogger about the Crimea. The reason for the ban was that Mitroshina visited the peninsula in 2017. In 2022, she left Russia and moved to the UAE, but in 2025 she flew to Sochi, after which she was immediately detained in a money laundering case.
