The St. Petersburg House of Music has completed its 20th concert season

The St. Petersburg House of Music, led by People's Artist of Russia Sergei Roldugin, closed the 20th season with a concert at the Nikolaevsky Palace. The event was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of philologist Lyudmila Verbitskaya. The program includes musical and literary works. "This is the unity of our culture — language and music, and the music of the language, and the language of music. You can rearrange it as you like. The masterpieces that you will hear today relate to both poetry and musical works," said Sergey Roldugin, People's Artist of Russia, Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg House of Music.

The program includes works of Russian literature from different eras, from the poetry of Alexander Sumarokov and Mikhail Lomonosov to the lyrics of the 20th century.

The lines about the true power of the word sounded especially symbolic, given that the evening was dedicated to Verbitskaya's memory. The texts that survived the centuries were complemented by a palette of musical art — from the elegant music of the Italian composer of the XVIII century Giovanni Pergolesi, reinterpreted by the composer Igor Stravinsky, to the lyrics of the classics of the Russian school Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Alexander Glazunov. Each melody continues the conversation about Russian culture.

Young musicians performed with the luminaries of the stage. It is an invaluable work experience for them to see how recognized masters work with every word and every note. For 20 years, the support of young talents has been the main vocation of the House of Music.

"The St. Petersburg House of Music in the first quarter of the 21st century is one of the central cultural events in St. Petersburg, which is also taking place in Russia, working very closely with a movement such as Sirius, aimed primarily at children. This is a huge event, and 20 years is great," said Nikolai Burov, People's Artist of Russia.

Today Alexey Lobikov is a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, a musician with a brilliant career. It is difficult to overestimate the role that the House of Music played in his formation, believing in him at the very beginning of his creative career.

"The trombone is far from the most solo instrument, but thanks to the House of Music and a huge number of solo concerts, there is an opportunity to promote and show its capabilities," Lobikov added.

More than 600 musicians are soloists of the House of Music. Over the years, they have given more than 2.5 thousand concerts in fifty countries.

"This concert ended the anniversary season. Summer is a traditional time for educational programs, during these months the soloists of the St. Petersburg House of Music will perform on the Black Sea coast - in Crimea and Sirius," concluded the correspondent.

Events in honor of the anniversary of the unique St. Petersburg institution are held at the largest venues in the northern capital.

On April 21, the soloist of the St. Petersburg House of Music, Fyodor Osver, won first place at The Muri Competition 2026 in the Swiss city of Muri. Varvara Petrova took the second place, and Pedro Moreira took the third. In the finale, each of the musicians performed his own performance of Mozart's Concerto for Oboe in C Major, K. 314.

Osver's teacher Alexey Utkin, in turn, noted that the musician was preparing for the competition and performed independently, without the personal presence of his teacher at the competition.
