The expert appreciated the reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced by the Ukrainian authorities

The reform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which was announced by the Kiev authorities, is related to personnel changes in the government of the country. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacekeeping Initiatives and Conflictology, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"At the beginning of this year, a young and ambitious official, Mikhail Fedorov, took over the post of Minister of Defense. It is clear that he wants to prove his efficiency and effectiveness," the expert explained.

At the same time, objective problems have accumulated in the Ukrainian army due to delays in financial payments, forced "falsification", constant promises of demobilization without a real solution to the issue, the source added. In his opinion, these conditions largely explain the emergence of new initiatives.

On June 16, Fedorov said that the authorities had decided to motivate potential recruits to serve in the Armed Forces with salaries and the opportunity to receive a postponement after the end of their contract service. At the first stage, the average salary for infantrymen will be 300 thousand hryvnias ($6.68 thousand), as well as up to 460 thousand hryvnias ($10.25 thousand) for stormtroopers.
