Usually, the cabin filter in a car is changed at least once a year or according to the regulations of a particular model, but in real conditions the interval may be shortened. If you often have to drive through traffic jams, dusty roads, near construction sites, during the flowering season, or with passengers who are sensitive to dust and pollen, it is better to check the filter more often. LECAR specialists and expert doctor, allergist and immunologist Elena Moskayeva told Izvestia about this on June 18.

A clogged filter not only cleans the air worse, but also reduces the effectiveness of ventilation: the system begins to "breathe through the scarf," experts explained. A conventional dust filter traps coarse dust and some pollen. Charcoal additionally helps to combat some odors and gas impurities, for example, in dense urban traffic.

HEPA filters have now become a popular topic among car owners, experts noted. When choosing such a filter, it is important to pay attention to compatibility with a specific car model and the actual characteristics of the product. The fact is that too dense or poor-quality filter material can worsen the air flow, and the "fashionable" labeling by itself does not guarantee the desired result.,

"For patients with hay fever — seasonal allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis — it is advisable to change the cabin filter before the start of the palination season, that is, before the active flowering of significant plants. In such cases, it is really recommended to use HEPA filters, as they are more effective at detaining fungal spores and allergenic particles. But the filter must fit the car and be changed in a timely manner. The old or clogged one no longer works as a full—fledged defense," Moskayeva noted.

Earlier, on June 15, an allergist expert warned that mold allergens could accumulate in a contaminated ventilation and air conditioning system.
