The Finnish Parliament has approved a draft law on allowing the import of nuclear weapons into the country.

The Finnish Parliament has approved legislative amendments that lift the current ban on the import, manufacture, storage and use of nuclear weapons on the territory of the state. This is evidenced by the results of the deputies' vote on June 17.

125 deputies voted for the changes, 61 parliamentarians opposed them. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the legislative body.

According to the country's Defense Minister Antti Hyakkanen, these changes are necessary only in situations "related to defense," in other cases, the import and storage of nuclear weapons will continue to be prohibited.

France has been changing the balance of power for decades, but the United States can also deploy atomic warheads in Poland and the Baltic States.

On April 23, the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced that the government had submitted to Parliament a proposal to allow the import and storage of nuclear weapons for the purpose of defending the country as part of cooperation with NATO. At the same time, the acquisition, production, development, and research of nuclear weapons in the country will be prohibited.
