Moscow court bans websites with number substitution and voice modification services
The Gagarin Court of Moscow has banned websites with phone number substitution and voice distortion services. This is stated in the materials that Izvestia reviewed on June 17.
Clients were guaranteed anonymity and security, but the court clarified that consumers of such services were violating the law. The resolution emphasized that fake phone numbers can be used by attackers to commit crimes, including for false reports of terrorist attacks.
On May 24, the Interior Ministry warned about a fraud scheme involving voice confirmation. It was clarified that the main purpose of such calls is not to technically hack devices, but to exert psychological pressure. Scammers create the illusion of an incident that has already occurred, put people in a state of panic and anxiety, and then proceed to a multi-step deception scheme.
Expert Valentina Shilina noted on June 12 that one should not try to replay telephone scammers, since voice recording can be used in the future to confirm banking transactions or to deceive loved ones. She drew attention to the fact that attempts to ridicule, deceive or expose a fraudster can lead to serious consequences.
