The United Russia Party (EP) supported a more balanced application of laws on undesirable organizations and foreign agents in the field of libraries. This was reported on the EP's website on June 16.

"Books in libraries should remain accessible, and any decisions about restrictions should be made carefully, taking into account their impact on the cultural and intellectual heritage of our country," said Evgeny Revenko, a member of the General Council of United Russia.

In his opinion, the overly broad interpretation of the new rules creates uncertainty for library staff. In addition, it may limit readers' access to scientific, educational, and fiction literature. It is important to avoid situations in which libraries that have been formed for decades will be at risk, Ravenko believes.

It is noted that in connection with the information about cases of seizure of books from libraries, the need for a more balanced application of legislation is confirmed.

Olga Avanesyan, a practicing psychologist and psychotherapist, warned in an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, June 8, about the risks of reading books on psychology. She noted that psychology books help to better understand yourself and others, but reading alone may not be enough to make real changes.
