German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are contributing to the destruction of their own political parties due to their unwillingness to accept wrong decisions. Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic cooperation with Foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), announced this on June 16.

"Both Merz and Starmer are destroying their parties due to their inability to admit mistakes and correct a failed course," he said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

This is how the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund commented on the results of recent public opinion research in Germany. According to a survey, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has increased its lead over the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) opposition bloc in the ranking of the country's political forces. The gap between them reached a record nine percentage points.

The Bild newspaper, citing a requested study by the INSA sociological institute, reported on June 6 that the level of discontent with Merz among the German population reached 77%, thereby setting a new anti-record. The politician's rating has plummeted by four percentage points compared to the end of April. At the same time, only 16% of respondents are satisfied with the work of the country's ruling coalition, while the remaining 78% expressed the opposite opinion.
