The veteran of the Airborne Forces spoke about the frequent mistakes of recruits during parachute training

The most common mistakes made by airborne recruits during parachute training are incorrect grouping and fear of jumping. Sergey Chuvyrin, a veteran of the Airborne Forces, told Izvestia about this.

"Of course, there are mistakes, but let's start with the fact that before making the first parachute jump, a recruit goes through a long period of training. For a long period of time, there are specialists who will explain to him what needs to be done in order not to get injured, in order for everything to happen correctly, without mistakes," Chuvyrin reassured.

Nevertheless, mistakes can happen even if you prepare carefully and for a long time. The most common mistakes, according to the expert, are incorrect grouping and lack of psychological preparation.

"People come in all different ways, even if they are airborne troops and more careful selection is carried out there. Nevertheless, it is quite difficult to overcome oneself psychologically. We also need to remember about the grouping — not to spread our legs and not to twist them when landing," said Chuvyrin.

Fear often arises from distrust of parachutes. Chuvyrin stressed that you should not be afraid of parachutes.

"Our parachutes are the most reliable in the world, and we can be proud of it," said the veteran of the Airborne Forces.

Certain problems arise when controlling a parachute. A military parachute has a number of significant differences from a sports parachute. There are various techniques and ways to change the trajectory of movement, but beginners often have difficulties with this.

"A military interpreter, an adult, accomplished man, already with the rank of captain or major, jumped with us. The landing site was very large — about 3 by 3 kilometers. It was all cleared and empty, but there was a single willow tree in the center. And this translator managed to land both of his first jumps on this tree. A skydiver-athlete will want to get to this tree, but he will not be able to. And he turned out to be a lucky guy," Chuvyrin shared his story.
