Bucharest Metro staff spoke about the widespread spread of bedbugs in several depots and warned passengers about the risk of bringing the insects home after a trip. This was reported by the Club Feroviar (CF) portal.

It is noted that the most critical situation was recorded at the Valya-Yalomitsa depot. This facility serves one of the newest metro lines, which was commissioned in 2020.

Employees of the company said that the recreation rooms are infested with insects. Due to fears of bringing pests into their apartments, some mechanics have started using their own mattresses and cots.

The portal also notes that the management company Metrorex currently has no plans to carry out disinfection of premises. Representatives of the organization cite a lack of financial resources as the reason for the refusal of sanitary treatment.

Bucharest Metro is the only metro in Romania, it was opened on November 19, 1979, adds "Газета.Ru ".

In November last year, the head of the general Staff of the French armed forces, Fabien Mandon, accused Russia of an invasion of bed bugs, declaring the destabilization of the situation in the republic. In July 2025, it was reported that the situation with bed bugs in France was deteriorating, despite the assurances of the country's authorities. It was noted that there are no reasons for the disappearance of bedbugs, since this problem has existed in the country for about 15 years.
