A high-alert mode was introduced in the Angara region due to forest fires

The Irkutsk Region has been on high alert since June 15. This is due to forest fires and worsening weather conditions.

The corresponding decree was signed by Governor Igor Kobzev. Roman Kolesov, the first deputy governor, was appointed responsible for emergency prevention measures.

The Regional Ministry of Forestry is required to conduct ground and air patrols, ensure prompt response of forces and assets, keep records of fires and inform local residents about security measures.

The heads of municipalities should clarify the action plan for the prevention and elimination of emergencies, take additional measures for the continuous operation of life support systems, utilities, energy supply, heat supply and social facilities. In case of unfavorable prognosis, appropriate regimens should be introduced in a timely manner.

Relevant ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region, the OGKU Center for Civil Defense and Protection of the Population and Territories from Emergencies, have also been assigned certain tasks.

IA IrkutskMedia clarifies that over the past weekend and holidays 41 forest fires were extinguished in the Angara region. As of Monday morning, June 15, the elimination of 15 fires continued.

Earlier, on June 16, it was reported that since the beginning of 2026, 3 thousand forest fires have been recorded in Russia on an area of 1.2 million hectares. This was reported to Izvestia by the head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Ivan Advisers. In the same period of 2025, 3.3 thousand fires were registered on 3.8 million hectares.
