Vintage market collectors will tell Muscovites the stories of rare items

A series of lectures on antiques will be held at the vintage market, which opened on Revolution Square as part of the Summer in Moscow project. This was reported in the Department of Trade and Services.

Lectures are organized in the covered pavilion of the market, decorated in the style of Chekhov's summer cottage.

On June 18, Eduard Arakelov, a hereditary antiquarian and a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Arts, will address the guests. His lecture will be devoted to Meissen porcelain, which was once called "white gold". The expert will reveal the secrets of its production, tell about the attempts of alchemists to create porcelain instead of the Philosopher's stone, as well as about the high-profile scams and quarrels of European monarchs over cups. At the end of the meeting, visitors will be shown how to distinguish an authentic product from a replica.

Collector Danil Shchetikov will give a lecture on June 23. Using the example of objects from his own collection, he will talk about the needlework culture of the XIX — early XX century. Guests will learn how representatives of high society used needle holders, thimbles, scissors and other accessories. The exhibits can be viewed in detail and held in hand.

On June 30, a meeting will be held with Murad Magomedov, the founder of the Crystal Castle collection. The lecture will be devoted to the European crystal of the XIX–XX centuries. The expert will introduce the audience to the history of the manufactories of Germany, France, Belgium and Central Europe, tell about the features of their products and show authentic samples from his collection.
