Hervé Renard became the head coach of the Tunisian national football team
French specialist Herve Renard has been appointed head coach of the Tunisian national football team. This was announced on June 16 by the press service of the Tunisian Football Federation.
He replaced Sabri Lamushi in this position. The contract with the new mentor runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup. According to the terms of the agreement, the financial terms of the specialist's contract remained at the same level.
"The agreement also provides for the opening of negotiations after the completion of participation in the World Cup for long—term cooperation based on specific sporting goals," reads a message on Facebook (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
Before the start of the first training session at the stadium, it is planned to hold a briefing for media representatives with the participation of the new head coach.
Lamushi was dismissed the day before after the devastating defeat of the Tunisian national team in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup. Lamouche's departure was caused not only by the defeat against Sweden, but also by the fact that his son allegedly got into a fight with Tunisian fans after the match.
Herve Renard was dismissed from his post as head coach of the Saudi national team on April 17. It was noted that the reason for this decision was the poor results in the March friendly matches. Saudi Arabia lost to Serbia (1:2) and Egypt (0:4).
