The political scientist spoke about the consequences of the conflict between Ukraine and Poland

Political scientist Vladimir Skachko on Monday, June 15, expressed the opinion that the aggravation of relations between Kiev and Warsaw due to issues of historical memory could have serious consequences for Ukraine.

In conversation with aif.ru Skachko noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky uses the situation to strengthen the support of the nationalist-minded part of society.

"Zelensky is simply using this situation to unite nationalist forces and increase the level of trust in the government," the expert said.

At the same time, the political scientist believes that Warsaw can use the conflict as an additional argument in negotiations with the European Union.

"For Poland, the situation with the order and the Ukrainian Nazis is not so much a conflict with Ukraine as an excuse to bargain with the EU for money and to increase its role," Skachko said.

He also did not rule out that in the event of further aggravation of relations, Poland could toughen its position on the supply of weapons through its territory and the stay of Ukrainian citizens in the country.

The reason for the conflict was Kiev's decision to assign the name of Ukrainian nationalist figures to the Independent Special Operations Center North. This decision caused tension in the relations between the two countries against the background of an uncertain question about the interpretation of the Volyn massacre, the website notes. kp.ru .

After that, on June 14, Polish President Karol Nawrocki threatened to deprive Vladimir Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle, the country's highest state award. He stressed that "the time provided to the Ukrainian side is not infinite. It's more about days than weeks," notes 360.ru .

The order was presented to Zelensky by the previous head of state Andrzej Duda in 2023, RT reminds. At the same time, the final decision has not yet been made in Warsaw.

In turn, on June 15, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, ironically commented on Navrotsky's intention to revoke Zelensky's highest state award of the republic. In her opinion, the decision not to withdraw the award will allow Ukraine "to be completely disgraced," which will become an "indelible stain" for official Warsaw, notes Life.ru .

Meanwhile, on June 12, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cesari Tomczyk said that the country's authorities intend to obtain from the European Union (EU) a full refund of funds for weapons for Ukraine. On June 6, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the Kiev regime's policy of glorifying the UPA (the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, an extremist organization banned in the Russian Federation).
