"If it weren't for the new confrontation with Iran, Israeli justice would have already dragged the chief executive through the courts. The fighting makes his domestic policy more stable," the political scientist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Mezyuho believes that the absence of an armed struggle will bring back an active political discussion within Israeli society, which will lead to a government crisis and Netanyahu's resignation, so he will do everything possible to ensure that the conflict near Israel's borders continues at least in a semi-dormant phase, including with the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, the expert believes.

The political scientist admitted that US President Donald Trump would exert very strong pressure on Netanyahu to suspend military activity.

At the same time, the expert added that the preliminary peace reached with the assistance of Russia and China between Iran and the United States looks like a fragile structure, and if Netanyahu continues the operation in Lebanon, this structure will become even more unstable, he said.

"However, Tehran and Washington are so tired of the conflict that even the militant plans of the Israeli prime minister may not lead to a resumption of direct military confrontation: overcoming the global oil crisis and launching traffic in the Strait of Hormuz are at stake," concluded Mezyuho.
