The harvest of early grain crops has begun in Crimea

The harvesting campaign of early grain crops has begun in Crimea. The harvesting of barley of the ultra-ripe variety of domestic breeding has already begun in the Krasnogvardeysky district, the head of the region, Sergey Aksenov, said on Monday, June 15.

Farmers will have to harvest more than 577 thousand hectares of early grain and leguminous crops. The largest areas are located in Krasnogvardeysky, Dzhankoysky and Leninsky districts — 81.6, 66.3 and 59.6 thousand hectares, respectively.

The republic's demand for grain is estimated at 1.1 million tons. This includes food purposes, livestock feed, and backfilling seed funds for the 2027 harvest. Taking into account the shifting balances, the production surplus will exceed 400 thousand tons.

Agricultural producers have 1,481 combine harvesters available for harvesting. This and other equipment is sufficient to perform the entire amount of work.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russia is preparing to record the third volume of grain and leguminous exports in history in the amount of 61.8 million tons. However, reaching this level reveals systemic contradictions in logistics, income distribution and environmental sustainability of the industry.
