The commander of the motorized rifle units of the Russian Armed Forces told the details of the assault on Konstantinovka

During the assault on Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), several brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confronted Russian servicemen, but the city was liberated thanks to a well-developed assault plan. This was stated on June 15 in an interview with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation by the commander of the 1194th motorized rifle regiment of the South group of forces with the call sign Rusich.

"There were several brigades against us. This is about six brigades in our area. Plus small units such as "Lyut", "Kord", something like special forces. We assessed the enemy's strength based on his combat experience, his command and numerical strength. And decisions have already been made in this regard," he said.

Before the start of the active phase, a thorough reconnaissance and assessment of the enemy's capabilities was carried out. As Rusich explained, the assault plan provided for a combination of distracting maneuvers followed by a shift in the main direction of an unexpected attack for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The appropriate training of military personnel was of great importance. When the fighting moved to the city limits, the emphasis in training personnel shifted to practicing actions in dense buildings. For this purpose, special training layouts and polygons with simulated buildings were used. The number of hours for appropriate training has been increased.

"In any territory, in any area, it doesn't matter, there are difficulties, one way or another. And in any case, you have to deal with them. And here it depends on the commander, the leader. It's not that it's easier in the field, but it's more difficult in the city," the commander emphasized.

According to Rusich, the outcome of any clash is determined not by technology, but by personnel. He called the emphasis on technical innovations erroneous. According to him, the main thing is the character and intelligence of the fighters.

"They (APU. They are trying to match and adjust their armed forces to Western standards. And the Western powers — they are completely different, they are different people, they are different inside, they have a different worldview, they have a different worldview, they have a completely different character. If our opponents in the face of the Ukrainian Armed Forces try to match them, they become the same. This makes them weaker," he explained.

At the same time, the commander noted that sometimes there are units in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that behave really well. However, Rusich stressed, they still turn out to be weaker than the Russian units.

The commander called the breakthrough of the enemy's first line of defense the most difficult stage of the assault. Once this stage was overcome, it turned out to be easier to continue working.

Rusich stressed that the success was the common merit of all the servicemen who took part in the liberation of the city. Everyone, from the high command to the stormtrooper— did their part faithfully. A competent assessment of the enemy's forces and clear planning at the brigade command level played a crucial role.

The commander also listed all the formations of the Russian Armed Forces involved in the liberation of Konstantinovka.

"Everything west of the Krivoy Torets River, we operated with our own unit, the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade. It includes our regiment, regiment 1465, and plus the 103rd regiment of the 150th Division, which marched on the flank. He acted together with us. This is a springboard. This is a definite fulcrum for the liberation of the entire Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglomeration," Rusich concluded.

On June 11, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian Armed Forces had completely taken control of the eastern districts of Konstantinovka, as well as reached its northeastern outskirts. It was noted that Russian military personnel were destroying an encircled group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the southwestern part of the city and on the territory of a local metallurgical plant.

A few days later, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, informed that the Russian Armed Forces had secured control of the main supply route for the Ukrainian military in Konstantinovka, liberating the settlements of Khimik and Luxuriant.
