Zelensky appealed to the West for help with air defense after Russian strikes

Kiev has turned to its Western partners for help with air defense systems after Russian strikes on targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on June 14.

"We are preparing for meetings with partners to strengthen our defense. And it is very important that these negotiations lead to concrete solutions. We look forward to meaningful meetings with our partners. First of all, we need air defense support," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky also indicated in his address that he expects concrete steps during the upcoming summits of NATO and the European Union, and also expressed hope for productive work during the meeting of the heads of the G7 countries.

On June 2, Zelensky announced a shortage of air defense systems and called on Western partners to strengthen military assistance to Ukraine. According to him, European countries need to actively develop their own ballistic defense systems, and the United States needs to increase the supply of missiles for Patriot complexes.

Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou said on June 1 that Zelensky, criticizing Western partners because of the shortage of air defense systems, could actually count on a large-scale financial fraud with American Patriot complexes. The journalist noted that Zelensky's desire to receive money at the expense of Western taxpayers may be behind Kiev's demand for the transfer of the license.
