Pellegrini criticized Magyar for statements about Slovakia

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini criticized the new Prime Minister Peter Magyar, who said that Slovakia is "Upper Hungary." The Slovak newspaper Dennik writes about this on June 14.

Pellegrini noted that the statement of the young politician is the result of his political inexperience. He expressed the hope that Magyar's words were not a deliberate attempt to provoke tension between the two countries.

"This is not good rhetoric," the newspaper quoted the head of state as saying.

Pellegrini also added that Budapest and Bratislava should move from emotional expressions to practical issues. The Prime Minister stressed that he wants to contribute to the settlement of Slovak-Hungarian relations, but Magyar's statements do not contribute to this.
