- The Guardian pointed out that Kiev has implemented only 15% of the EU accession reforms.
Ukraine has fulfilled only 15% of the conditions agreed with the European Union (EU) for joining the union. This was reported on June 14 by the British newspaper The Guardian.
"According to EU representatives, Ukraine has implemented only 15% of the reforms provided for in the 10-point plan agreed in December last year between the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Taras Kachka," the article says.
The authors of the material emphasize that for Kiev to fully join the EU, it is necessary for it to adopt thousands of laws and regulations approved in Europe, and then the member countries of the association will be able to approve Ukraine's candidacy. The article also points out that the implementation of these agreements is a test of the "reality" of Kiev's intentions to conduct European integration.
The Berliner Zeitung newspaper noted on the same day that negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the European Union are an unrealistic promise that cannot be fulfilled. According to the publication, even if any decision is made at the Luxembourg meeting, Brussels will try to present it as its own victory. The newspaper stressed that the most dangerous outcome would be a situation in which Europe itself would believe in this staging.
President of the European Council Antonio Costa announced on June 12 that the EU countries had agreed to start negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the union. He noted that the member states had agreed to open the first negotiating block with both countries.
