Euronews reported on von der Leyen's possible influence on Kallas' powers

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission (EC), is supposed to be behind the reform of the diplomatic apparatus of the European Union (EU) and the possible limitation of the powers of the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas. This was reported on June 13 by Euronews.

It is clarified that tensions are increasing between the EU diplomatic service and the EC. Von der Leyen is increasingly speaking out on foreign policy issues, actually going beyond his authority. This further weakens Callas' position.

"An additional factor in this discussion is the growing tension between Kallas and the European External Action Service, on the one hand, and von der Leyen and the European Commission, on the other," the publication says.
