During the election campaign for the parliamentary elections in Hungary in May this year, the Fidesz party made a number of critical mistakes that prevented it from winning the race. This was stated by former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during the party congress on June 13.

"The election campaign didn't work, the opponent turned out to be much more attractive. We went to victory to the very end, not noticing the advantages of the opponent, so we did not adjust the campaign strategy," Orban was quoted as saying. 24.hu .

He also added that underestimation of the digital information space, where the opposition turned out to be stronger, played a significant role in the defeat. According to him, Fidesz also underestimated the opposition's training in fabricating accusations against the then-current government.

The head of the Tisa party, Peter Magyar, was officially elected Prime Minister of Hungary on May 9. His candidacy was supported by 140 parliamentarians, 54 opposed.

On May 10, Orban warned the new government against refusing to defend Hungarian interests in the European Union, because then the country would "wipe its feet." According to Orban, the new government should understand that Hungary's protection in the EU will not allow Brussels to ignore Budapest's interests.
